An exceptional early antique Country House William & Mary walnut needlework embroidered high back open armchair. Fabulous quality with rectangular back and moulded downswept arms on gadrooned and hexagonal column supports, with turned legs joined by a wavy X-stretcher. Deep mellow patina, a beautiful piece of early English furniture. Circa 1690. Original needlepoint/work embroidered covering confirming a chair of superior quality. Identical in design and needlework/textile to those displayed at Packwood House Warwickshire.

Seat height 20”, 27” wide at the front , 43.5” high at the back, 27” overall depth, seat depth 17.5”

As a genuine antique/vintage item there is wear and use commensurate with age. Historic repair to underside of X frame showing a well loved and respected chair. Some wooden products may have signs of historic woodworm. As a precaution we apply a clear triple action woodworm treatment that also kills wet rot, dry rot and woodworm.
