A beautifully crafted antique English mahogany station clock with eight day fusee timepiece dial clock made by renowned clockmaker George Blackie London 392 Strand London. Numerous museums/institutions including the Science Museum London have Blackie timepieces on display confirming a watchmaker/clockmaker of distinction. Watchmakes and clockmakers of the world lists George Blackie as working in The Strand, London from 1813 until his death in 1885.

The clock is designed to run for eight days on a single winding of the mainspring. The clock features a single fusee mechanism.  Lovely mahogany case surround with brass detailing and glass fronted opening cover. Original wood pegs to side (used to keep clock front in place). Original dial and lovely sound to mechanism.

This is a very attractive wall clock. The clock’s case is made of a rich deeply coloured mahogany, with a dovetailed back box with lower and side access doors and held together by turned pegs, glazed and hinged brass bezel with inner silvered sight ring.

There are substantial plates to single line fusee movement with anchor escapement and brass pendulum. The dial retains its original ground work. The signature and chapters are original with historical restoration. The clock is 15” diameter with painted Roman dial signed G Blackie 392 Strand London, with steel hands. 

Circa 1850 this beautiful clock is a true work of art, combining beauty and function in a way that is both timeless and enduring. It is testament to the enduring appeal of fine craftsmanship and classic design, and is to be a cherished and treasured possession for generations to come.
